The God who sees me. Genesis 16

We must not miss the point that it is the angel of the LORD who finds Hagar. She is not expecting to be ‘found’. As far as she is concern, she does not need to be rescued! She is taking care of the issue (his conflict with Sarai), for her and for her child. She is heading back home, to Egypt. Most likely, she does not know/believe that she is also included in God’s covenant with Abram. That is what we have in common with her, we do not know/expect/believe the depth of God’s love and grace and mercy. We often abandon all hope to be rescued, and we go at fixing our problems by the mere effort of our strength.

God is faithful. He is willing and able to help his people. He sees us. He hears us. He has found us. Let us return to our Father in repentance and humility.
