16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. 18 Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

What if I were to believe, fully, that in God there is no variation, or shadow due to change? How would my daily life be like? These three verses are nested between a great description on how temptation really works, and the reality of letting our feelings take the best of us. It is almost a reality check:

1. It is your own desires who bring up temptations in your life, not God.

2. But He brings good things to you, especially His unchangeable love for you

3. By the way, that does not mean you are free to let your anger rule the way you interact with people.

No, we are not tempted by ‘open doors’ that God is bringing to our life. And nope, God’s love for you is not a license for you to let everyone else have it. James point? God, because He wanted it, makes His people the object of His saving love and grace.

Amazing!
